    Dr. Nazli Balkir Neftci is a DHCC and DHA licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in working with patients from various cultural backgrounds, including Europe and Middle East.

    She obtained her doctoral degree with honours in clinical psychology and psychotherapy from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where she was awarded a scholarship by the Cluster of Excellence initiative of German Research Foundation. She continued her clinical and academic career in Istanbul, Turkey and attained her associate professorship in 2018. Dr. Balkir Neftci was former vice-chair of the Department of Psychology at Isik University, Istanbul and during her service she led the curriculum design and program development of the Graduate School of Clinical Psychology as well as the establishment of the Centre for Counselling and Psychological Services. Besides private practice, nearly a decade, she provided psychotherapy supervision for the graduate students of clinical psychology.

    Dr. Balkir Neftci has also been involved in refugee and immigrant support projects in Turkey and Germany, both as a psychotherapist and a researcher, in collaboration with diverse universities across Europe. She has various publications in the field of cultural and clinical psychology. Dr. Balkir Neftci’s particular interest was to understand the needs and the expectations of patients with diverse cultural backgrounds during psychotherapy and the cultural contributors for mental well-being.

    Since two years Dr. Balkir Neftci has been working as a lecturer, researcher and a psychotherapist in Dubai. Fluent both in Turkish and English, she delivers Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy. Her long-standing experience in the diagnosis and the treatment of mental health conditions include but not limited to:
