Prof. Dr. Barbara Wild (German Board Certified)

Prof. Dr. med. Barbara Wild is a German Board-certified neurologist and psychiatrist with more than 25 years’ experience in neurology and psychiatry.

She was born and grew up in Germany. She studied medicine at Eberhard – Karls-University, Tübingen, Germany, The Royal Free School of Medicine in London, GB, and Harvard Medical School, Boston. She received her medical license in 1988. With a grant from the Tübingen Graduate College of Neuroscience she finished a PhD studying cerebellar ataxia. She trained as a specialist in neurology at the Neurological University Hospital in Tübingen and later on as a specialist in psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, Tübingen University. Scientifically she worked on movement disorders, facial movements, expression of emotion and humour.

During her exceptional career Prof. Wild gained vast experience in treating all sorts of neurological disorders. Here a small selection of some of the most common ones:

2003 she started her own outpatient clinic for neurology and psychiatry in the northern Black Forest and later in Tübingen and nowadays Stuttgart. In addition, she headed the private Fliedner Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychosomatics in Stuttgart from 2014 to 2018. In Stuttgart she cares for many English-speaking patients, e.g. employees of the large companies in Stuttgart (Bosch, Daimler) and from the US Army Garnison.

She is married and has a grown-up son.

She teaches at Tübingen University. She also does pro bono work at the Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology, Dohuk, Kurdistan, Iraq as a lecturer (a project funded by the State of Baden-Württemberg).

She coaches in job related and private issues, acts as a supervisor for colleagues in training and is a certified Balint Group Leader (German Balint Society).

She acts a court expert on socio-medical and forensic issues, traffic medical qualification for specialists according to the driving license regulation FeV by the State Medical Chamber of Baden-Württemberg.

She has a training by the German Society for Neuroscientific Assessment e.V. (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurowissenschaftliche Begutachtung e.V.), is alumna of the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes), member of various professional societies (including DGPPN and International Society for Humor Studies), member of the Board of Trustees of the Psychosomatics and Social Medicine Foundation and Chairwoman of the Association for Psychotherapeutic Continuing Education e.V. (responsible for the annual Lindau Psychotherapy Weeks).

Prof. Wild is interested in cultural exchange, art, literature and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
