Dr Doerthe Schiess has acquired after graduation from University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany meanwhile more than 20 years of experience as Neurologist across Germany and UAE.

She completed her post graduate studies in the department of Neuropathology at University Hospital in Duesseldorf, Germany, followed by post graduate education in various Neurological Departments at University Teaching Hospitals in Essen and Saarbruecken, Germany and in the Psychiatry Department from LWL-Psychiatry Association Westphalia in Dortmund, Germany which finally last in appreciation as Specialist Neurologist in 1999.

A Fellowship as Specialist Neurologist was done at University Teaching Hospital in Saarbruecken, Germany resulting in additional appreciation as Associate Specialist in Special Neurological Intensive Medicine in 2002. Dr. Doerthe Schiess moved to Ulm in 2004 and lead as Consultant Neurologist the Neurological Intensive Care unit and stroke unit for in-patient adults with acute life-threatening neurological diseases at University Teaching Hospital in Ulm/ Guenzburg, Germany. She had the educational authority of neurological intensive care of Bavarian State Chamber of Physicians.

After her move to Dubai in 2012 she acquired a Medical License of DHA in March 2013 and founded and managed an out-patient neurological clinic at Emirates Hospital Dubai till 2018. Since then she practices at Kind Care Medical Center Dubai. In May 2020 she acquired her Medical License in DHCC and joined GNC, German Neuroscience Center in DHCC, Dubai.

Her wealth of expertise in the neurological field regarding investigation, treatment and prevention is constantly updated by participation in numerous conferences, lectures, and seminars national and international. Dr. Doerthe has authored several medical articles in scientific journals and participated as speaker at congresses. She is member of the German (DGN) and United Arab Society of Neurology, the German Neuro-Intensive care and emergency medicine (DGNI), the German Stroke Association. Member of German Society of Neurology (DGN), Member of American Academy of Neurology (AAN), Member of Biofeedback Association South Africa (BFSA), Member of Biofeedback Certifications International Alliance (BCIA) and Member of International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR).

The whole kaleidoscope of acute and chronic neurological diseases in adults and children were treated by her during her career starting from strokes, headaches as migraines, tension type or cluster headaches  and trigeminal neuralgia, dizziness, muscle weakness as myasthenia gravis or myopathies, tingling and numbness as multiple sclerosis, fainting episodes as epilepsy, movement disorders, shivering and tremor as parkinson’s disease or essential tremor, forgetfulness as different forms of dementia, tiredness and exhaustion  as  burnout or depression, gait and balance problems as spinal cord disorders, insomnia, back pain as disc diseases and unexplained pain as fibromyalgia or somatization disorders. Her repertoire became recently broadened as well for environmental associated diseases within the neurological field as silent inflammations, neurodegenerative diseases, acquired mitochondriopathies just to name a few.

• Electromyography (EMG)

• Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

• Evoked Potentials (visual, auditory and somatosensibel)

• Ultrasound examinations of brain care vessels as Doppler- and Duplexsonography

Her therapeutic skills include Neurofeedback, an innovative computer-aided training method used to influence conscious self-regulation of brain activity. This method provides audio and video feedback signals to improve brain imbalances and has been used to treat conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, depression, tics, Tourette syndrome, insomnia, learning disabilities, pain management, and HRV (heart rate variability) biofeedback.
